A job by any other name

Gizza job. I could do that.

Gizza job. I could do that.

Many of those in the not-so-seasonally adjusted figure of unemployment – 4.5 million out of 39.99 million (between 16 and 64 years of age), giving a % unemployed rate of (40/4.5) x 100 = 8.9% (even that’s an underestimate) have only ever wanted a job.

Now the Grubbyment is promising them one.

They now have to work for their benefits i.e. Employment by any other name. Now that the slime that likes to make rules and impose them upon me is going to do this, {and we musn’t forget the scummy Tories are dog shagging the same leg here}, why on earth didn’t they leglisalte that employers must employ a certain % of unemployed according to the companies profitability and size as a function of the number of unemployed?

Trupble is this employment is a whipping on the aforementioned 8.9% whereas the alternative above whips the corporations. Isn’t it strange who the “guvn’t” is whipping and who they arn’t?

Well no, of course not.

For a single adult, adding the joseph rowntree figures for rent – £52 council tax – £13 to the jobseekers allowance of £60.50 gives you an annual take home of £6560, equivalent to 7000 pre tax/NI income.
Given that the gradgrindian purnell will seek to make them work the maximum statutory 48 hours this equates to an hourly rate of £2.81, a handsome 51% of the minimum wage.
Naturally this will spur them on to seeking a proper job, but due to the fact that this is structural unemployment, they aren’t any available.

Just saw the minimum wage rises to £5.73 wage, pushing the unemployment wage equivalent to a more pleasingly prudent 49%.

    Hi paul :)

Are we seeing the ‘pre-minimum wage concerns of the companies’ finally getting redress?

    It would appear so.

Let’s encourage the public to claim the benefits there entitled to. Once they’ve entered the ‘system’ (i.e. been identified and databased) then make the sods work 40+ hours a day. Haa Haa! I bet Brown had a stitch from laughing when he first came across that one.

I expect that dick of politican, Alie Darling, to start saying things like “you’ve never had it so good” – actually he already does, to the freaking speculators, just not to us.

    Roll on the revolution.
