What is racism?

I still believe the only racism worth paying attention to is when meaningful discrimination occurs, i.e. has a meaningful outcome (like as regard to lower salary, seeking employment, business deals, school places, hospital treatment, treatment by police, etc). Racism is of course wrong and stupid, but when it comes to racist name calling….. although wrong, derogatory and intimidatory, surely it isn’t really someone should get hung up about is it?

QPR’s (football club) Anton Ferdinand earns (possibly more than) what elite criminal bankers and politicians earn (even considering political gravy-training) is probably going to have a very comfortable life far better than 99% of british people. Any racist words should have been water of a ducks back. But he behaved like a little little immature boy who got upset about it and started balling (no pun intended).

People who know me may find my words uncharacteristic and very harsh, but there’s a reason behind it. Lets assume John Terry (of Chelsea football club), the supposed offender – who was found innocent of all charges in an English Court of Law called Ferdinands mother something awful and other awful things like Ferdinands penis was the size of a pigmy maggot…. you know… something stupid and horrible like that. There is no way such stuff would ever make it to court. Think of your slur, I dunno, the point is why should the supposed racist language Terry allegedly said end up in court and why should it get him banned and have his name blackened?

Why was the supposed racist language which was utterly trivial be entertained?

Now that the referee Mark Clattenburg has supposedly used what one guesses is racist language against two Chelesa players, it’s going to be very interesting to see if the interestingly names Clattenburg will be treated the same as John Terry.

If I was a betting man, I’d put a wager down that they won’t.

P.S. Ashley Cole was 100% right to make that tweet. I think intelligent people will understand why it was withdrawn.

Totally agree. The Police are now looking into the alleged “abuse” from referee Clattenburg. I find it totally perverse, such an investment of time and manpower over what is basically name calling. The school playground was far worse, come on, these are grown (overpaid men) here whinging!

Indeed. It’s just name calling. Not nice usually when done against young people who may find it hard to ‘handle’ it, and if the name calling is persistent, systematic and targeted – with the intent to make people feel bad, but surely here, it is just name calling and not a (deliberate) part of an act of discrimination. I think most people can tell the difference. Perhaps all this stupidity is built upon the ‘foundation stone’ of the anti-Semitism thing, where even criticising the political and illegal acts of so called ‘Israel’ gets insanely called anti-Semitism.

This is political correctness gone mad.

My neighbour said to call him(self) “uncle black”. We both know it’s purely description/identification based and there’s absolutely no discrimination at all. I’m not going to physically discriminate against him, nor he against me.

Ron Atkinson (ex Man U and Villa manager) did something similar a few years back, which got this the sack from his job as a football pundit/commentator. At that was really required was that he apologised on the next show if anyone took his perhaps ill-considered words in a way they were not meant to be taken.

A bit like what George Galloway did. GG was in an ‘verbal spar’ and used a term against his opponent which is used to describe someone disabled. Later, GG made a video apology about it and that was that.

Inconsequential references based on race are meaningless. People should learn to grow up a bit.

Having asked the question you fail to define it. So far as the authorities are concerned ‘the only racism worth paying attention to’ is any offence, real or imagined, that allows the hounding of white people. The assumption that ‘racism’ is a white-only crime is all but explicit and has been since the vil McPherson Report. Contrast the scandalous treatment of John Terry or even Luis Suarez with journalists at the Independent and The Times who weighed in on behalf of then Blackburn footballer El Hadji Diouf after the ‘white boy’ sneer he directed at a 12-year old ball-boy at Everton. Since you aren’t capable of drawing the necessary distinctions I’ll do it for you. ‘Racism’ may be defined as that which offends against the doctrine of equalitarianism. ‘Racialism’, the more proper term, rejects equalitarianism. Racialism is the study of differential physiology across groups. It is rooted in the idea – accepted everywhere in biology save for human affairs – that differential physiology implies differential psychology. Racialism is a separatist position. It guarantees the survival of all. It has nothing to do with ‘hate’ or gas chambers or any of the other bogeymen Leftists try to blackmail people with. Racialism is ‘diversity’ on a grand scale. It is neither ‘wrong’ nor ‘stupid’. What is ‘wrong’ and ‘stupid’ is the unthinking appeasement of prefatory remarks like this, a nod in the direction of a wicked orthodoxy white people think will allow then to express ‘controversial’ opinions. You’re a liberal. You don’t think, but then if you could think you wouldn’t be a liberal.
